Hear we go again! Life with Mike!: Ride up Blue Ridge Parkway-Between Asheville and Blowing Rock, N.C.

Well, I haven't been on for quite some time. I haven't really been up to that much to write about.

I did start to ride my bicycle again. I have been cycling on theAlcoa-Maryville greenway!

Yesterday, Friday my wife and I took a ride up part of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was a nice and scenic drive through the N. Carolina Mountains. We spent the night at a little motel, The Pixie Moter Inn, in Linnville, N.C. not to far from Boone, N.C. It is owned by an Elderly couple in their eighties we were told, and they are by the old book, in others words, cash only. If you plan on staying there, bring cash, as they do not accept any type of cards at all. Lucky for us, the store across the street had an ATM. From the motel we drove up to Grandfather Mountain, but did not pay to go in. They wanted $18.00 Per adult, I thought to my self, I'll get my picture from the Parkway, and I did. They have bear and other animals there to view, a swinging bridge, and great mountain top views, just thought it to pricey, when you can get great views of the area, anywhere from the Parkway for free! http://www.grandfather.com/fun-for-all/

We did pay to go in to see The Blowing Rock, it was $6.00 per adult. It had nice views, and there is a old Indian legend about the rock, but it took the whole of 10 minutes to see everything there. Was it worth $12.00 for the two of us, Eeh! But we did enjoy it. http://www.theblowingrock.com/legend.html

Overall, we had a great time and a enjoyable ride. We plan to do the lower half of the Parkway from Asheville down some time soon. It makes a nice two day trip to take your mind off of things. Plenty of hiking if you like. Biking, both on or off the road, camping if you like, fishing, boating and the list goes on!
