There is a scenic loop drive that goes through this part of the Smoky's. It is 11 miles long and open to cars, pedestrian's and bike's. Some of the wildlife we have encountered were otter, deer, bear, wild turkeys, coyotes, and squirrels. I am sure there are quite a few others species, but these were the most common animals that we encountered on our ride through the park and the short hike we took.
There are numerous trails throughout this area for all level of hikers. We only went one of the short trails because it was getting late in the day and we had already walked the greenway in town earlier.
If you were to do the loop and hike the trails you could spend days in this part of the park. There is a campground and picnic area just before entering the loop drive. There is also a visitors center half way round the loop, and several historical buildings throughout the park. They also have horse back rides, and I believe they also have bike rentals. http://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/cadescove.htm
